Rincon Lodging Reviews

Stay, Sleep & Enjoy

A stay at VILLA COFRESí HOTEL & RESTAURANT

The longest running vacation experience in Rincon is at Villa Cofresí.  Since the late 60's, we have seen "La Villa" grow, while never skipping a beat in occupancy and service.  We recently decided to see where things stand today at Villa Cofresí and we are happy to report that while the facilities and the service have improved, the charm of an friendly inn, where the all of the staff knows your name, remains intact.

We had the opportunity to stay at in a room in the south wing (known locally as the Hotel California) that not only rivaled our last room at El San Juan Hotel in dimension- it surpassed itClick to enlarge with a better ocean-view terrace.  We were quite impressed with the efforts of the housekeeping staff in maintaining the rooms in pristine condition (click on the images to enlarge).

Sandra Caro is the young, fresh-faced dynamo that makes everything tick.  She pays close attention to everything, from the bookings to the music that is being piped into the dining room for each meal. Her sunny disposition and constant attention to the details that really matter to the guests of La Villa, makes Sandra the perfect hotelier.

We really liked the fact that when you check-in, you get a continental breakfast pass for each day of your stay. That's real convenient when you don't want to make breakfast a daily key event, in order to fill that slot with more important things, such as beach time.  However, If you are moving at a more leisurely pace, for a few more dollars you can expand the breakfast into a full-course one, with a tasty custom-made omelet.

Speaking of great food, for dinner I enjoyed a well-prepared T-bone steak, which was so delicious, it required no steak sauce. The local sorullos (corn sticks) were a perfect accent to the thick and juicy steak.  We also had lunch at the beachside tiki bar,  where we ate delicious burgers Click to enlargeand  watched the banana boat riders return to the beach, ready to party some more, before getting back on the banana.  We later saw a couple actually finish their Pirate Specials and walk away from the beach bar, thinking that it had no effect.  By the time they got into the pool, we saw how much happier and romantic they had become.  The Pirate Special is a unique house drink, available only at Villa Cofresí.  It is served in a fresh coconut and contains several kinds of liquor.  If you enjoy exotic drinks, you have not had tasted the best until you've had a Pirate Special.

Villa Cofresí is the only beach resort in Rincon that offers a complete water sports service, aptly named Coconut Water Sports. The beach in front of Villa Cofresí is perfect for this type of activity.

Villa Cofresí is a popular beach resort, where you can walk around all day in your bathing suit. In all, our stay at La Villa was a relaxing and enjoyable one, so Villa Cofresí Hotel & Restaurant retains our coveted Highly Recommended status, because of its facilities, service, closeness to a great beach and for its overall value.  For more about Villa Cofresí Hotel and Restaurant, click the link.
